Sector of Low Temperature
Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems (DLNP)
Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR)
The Sector of Low Temperature (SLT) has been established as a separate division of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems in 1995, after closure of Division of Hadrons Physics, for development of cryogenic devices and carrying out experiments in physics of polarization phenomena.
Main Tasks of the Sector:
Development, construction and maintenance of “frozen” polarized targets (MRT in JINR, “NN”&”GDH” in Prague and Mainz).
Development and construction of cryostats of different purposes using the He3 in He4 delusion effect for reaching of ultra low temperatures.
Participation in ATLAS experiment including construction and tests units of liquid argon calorimeter, temperature measurement system, treatment of experimental data.
Participation in innovation projects that use cryogenic, magnetic and polarization technic.
At present staff of SLT consists of 22 employees, eight of them are engineers and technicians and 14 researchers, including three Candidates of Science and two Doctors of Science.
